Foreword

SERIOUS INVESTMENTS FOR THE BETTER FUTURE

Last year, thanks to the help of the Government of Republika Srpska and “Elektroprivreda Republike Srpske“, we implemented a project of a new electro-filter plant whose construction led to the emission of solid particles below the strict European ecological norms. In this company, our attention has been turned to investments in the mine, where we have procured new and maintained the existing mechanization, as well as to reconstruction, revitalization, replacement of old parts and technical maintenance at the Thermal Power Plant. Without serious investments, there is no progress. Investments are precisely aimed at boosting the work reliability and energy efficiency in order to raise the production levels, as well as to protect the environment.

All funds have been approved by the Government of the Republika Srpska, and they come from the Government’s own sources and certain credit arrangements. Last year, 46 million convertible marks were invested in capital overhaul which covered the investments and ongoing maintenance.

The project of construction of the flue-gas desulfurization plant at the Thermal Power Plant Ugljevik is the largest and most expensive ecological project in power plants in the RS and B&H. It is expected that the effects of desulphurization will be very positive for the town of Ugljevik and the environment because the Thermal Power Plant Ugljevik will produce energy that will not be considered “dirty” but “clean”. Once the issue of desulphurization is resolved, work permits and working potentials cannot be lost when it comes to the regional market.
